Ben Schonewille, Fish and Wildlife Biologist - Environmental Dynamics Inc., Whitehorse, Yukon
Ben was born and raised in the community of Teslin, Yukon. His passion for fish and wildlife led him to the University of Northern British Columbia where he graduated from in 2004 with a degree in fish and wildlife management. Shortly thereafter he began working with EDI Environmental Dynamics Inc., a consulting firm based in Whitehorse, Yukon. Since this time, Ben has worked throughout the Yukon on a wide variety of fisheries research and monitoring projects on wide variety of species including lake trout, lake whitefish and Chinook, chum and coho salmon. Recently, he has been EDI’s Project lead for Chinook salmon stock restoration projects in the Yukon River watershed including work with the Tr'ondek Hwech'in in Dawson City and the Teslin Tlingit Council in his home town of Teslin. These projects have involved unique stock restoration methods which are aligned with the views of local communities.
