Dennis Zimmermann, Facilitator and Fish and Wildlife Consultant, Whitehorse, Yukon
Dennis Zimmermann has over 20 years of professional experience in the North. His Master's of Science Degree in Rural Planning brought him to the Western Arctic of the Northwest Territories. The last decade of work has revolved around the intersection of community, fish, wildlife and habitat. Dennis has been the Executive Director of the Yukon Salmon Sub-Committee and Trust Manager for the Yukon Fish and Wildlife Enhancement Trust. His passion is fish. In 2013 he was awarded the DFO, National Recreational Fishery Award. He sits on the Yukon River Panel and the Yukon Land Use Planning Council and has worked with most First Nations Governments and Renewable Resources Councils as a planner and facilitator on community-based salmon, freshwater fish, caribou and land use plans. He is self-employed, lives in Whitehorse with his family, and is currently pursuing a Fisheries related PhD at Carleton University.
